Have you ever been in a boat parade? Or celebrated America’s independence by watching 4th of July fireworks from a dock…or a boat?

Well…then you’re in for a treat this year.

You can cross both of these items of your bucket list this July 4, 2019 weekend.

America’s birthday is right around the corner, and the Middle Peninsula wants you to spend it with them.

From Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6, the Middle Peninsula community has events planned for entire families, and locals and visitors of all ages, to enjoy.

Here’s the rundown of the holiday weekend:

Thursday, July 4, 2019

Mathews, Virginia

For the last two decades, Mathews High School  in Mathews, Virginia, has lit the sky up with fireworks on July 4.

Home to more than 100 miles of water trials, Mathews has over 20 different launch sites, giving locals and visitors alike the opportunity to spend the day paddling and then end it with a light show.

Fireworks will begin around 9 p.m., but entertainment and concessions start at 6:30 p.m.

Parking is available at the high school, with additional parking and a shuttle bus at Thomas Hunter Middle School starting at 7 p.m.

Too tired after the show to drive home? Consider booking a night at the Inn at Tabbs Creek, where you can continue to play and stay in Mathews County all weekend long.
