This just in! The Bulb Shoppe and Gardens at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs in Gloucester on the Middle Peninsula of Virginia will reopen for the year on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 and kick start its 2020 hours of Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., through Dec. 19, 2020.
Located at 7900 Daffodil Lane in Gloucester, Brent and Becky’s will also host the following upcoming on-site events.
Re-Opening: Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Stop by and enjoy a kid’s potting area to pot up some bulbs to take home while supplies last.
Second Saturdays: Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, 10 a.m.
Brent and Becky’s will host the Gloucester Master Gardeners on the second Saturday of the month for an informational look at what is going on in the garden. Join the Gloucester Master Gardeners for a look at gardening and how to make your garden the best it can be in the coming year. This month will focus on “Soil, the key to a good garden.” There is no charge or registration for this informative session packed with great information.
Gloucester Daffodil Club Meeting: Thursday, Feb. 13, 2020, 4 p.m.
Gloucester has an ideal daffodil-growing climate, and historic varieties and modern cultivars flourish here. Bulbs planted in the fall can be relied upon to bloom in the spring, and well-tended plantings increase over the years. The goal of the Gloucester Daffodil Club is to increase interest in this wonderful treasure of the county and increase planting. To date there are more than 60 members. Membership is open to all interested people. Four meetings are planned during the year on the second Thursday of February, May, September and November. Garden Room Tea & Ribbon Cutting: Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Take a break from the cold weather and enjoy some warmth and beautiful sights in the new garden room greenhouse. Come celebrate with Brent and Becky’s as they cut the ribbon for our their greenhouse addition. Complimentary tea and small bites provided.
Tree Forum: Proper Pruning Practices: Saturday, Feb. 22, 2020, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Everything you need to know to properly prune your trees during this time of year that’s perfect for garden maintenance. Learn what you need to know to have the confidence that you are pruning correctly. Topics covered include basic pruning, pruning of fruit and non-fruit bearing trees, tools needed, tool sharpening and maintenance, and hands on demonstrations.

Spring Garden Tours: 1-3 p.m., March 14, 18, 21, 25; April 1, 8, 11, 15
Take a leisurely stroll through the trial fields and gardens at the farm and home of Brent and Becky Heath. See where they grow trials, where they grow what they sell, see different planting combinations and locations so they can see what works best and where, plus a little history of the land you will be touring. Walking shoes recommended and will be on gravel, dirt and grass. Wheelchairs are not recommended or children under the age of 7. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED, $10 per person. Call 804-693-3966 to register.
